7 giant lanterns featured in Ligligang Parul 2020

Seven barangays will be participating in this year’s Giant Lantern Festival, locally known as Ligligan Parul, in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The festival, scheduled on December 16, will feature entries from Barangays Sta. Lucia, Bulaon, Telabastagan, Calulut, Sto. Niño, San Juan and San Nicolas. Organizers said the event will not be open for public viewing but instead streamed online as public gatherings remain prohibited under the existing community quarantine guidelines.  “There will be no competition. It will just be an exhibition in keeping with the tradition of the decades-old festival,” they said.  Media coverage will also be discouraged but those who will opt to cover live shall pass thru strict health screening.

‘High-value’ drug suspect nabbed in Mabalacat, Pampanga

Another high value individual was arrested by authorities and more than half a million pesos worth of illegal drugs (shabu) were confiscated at Brgy Dau, Mabalacat City, Pampanga on Thursday (Nov 26). CSF police arrest suspects of multiple crimes

At least two individuals who are allegedly involved in multiple crimes were arrested by the City of San Fernando Police in an operation held on November 23, 2020 in Barangay Malpitic. Marlon Gueco, alias “Pakyaw” of Northville 14 Phase 1 in Calulut, and Anthony Villaroman, alias “Tibong” of Northville 14 Phase 2 in Malpitic, are now facing cases for violating laws on illegal drugs, possession of firearms, and disobedience to a person in authority or his agents. Moreover, Mosqit Manticayan, alias “Moksit” of Barangay Lourdes Sur in Angeles City, was arrested in Calulut village also for violating the anti-illegal drugs use act. In total, 25 pieces of small and medium-sized heat-sealed plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu were confiscated from the suspects, along with more than P1,800 in cash, two mobile phone units, firearm, and various bags and pouches. Clark airport corporation starts asset disposal, real property valuation

  The government-run Clark International Airport Corp. on Tuesday announced the ongoing appraisal of its facilities and inventory of non-performing assets inside the Clark Civil Aviation Complex.   “One of our proactive responses to the pandemic is to conduct a thorough inventory of both fixed and movable assets, including nonperforming assets, which will be converted into additional revenues for the government,” CIAC President Aaron Aquino said.   He added that the appraisal is needed to determine the market value of these facilities and to ensure a just and efficient real property valuation system beneficial to the government.   The CIAC chief said the appraisal committee, led by two CIAC vice presidents, Irish Calaguas of the operations group, and Nancy Paglinawan of the finance office, along with property management staff and a licensed third-party appraiser, were instructed to inspect and create an updated database of CIAC’s real property, facilities and equipme...

DTI reminds Central Luzon establishments to comply with Price Freeze

Datu Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reminds establishments in Central Luzon particularly groceries and supermarkets to comply with the Price Freeze on basic goods.   An Automatic Price Control is being implemented after President Rodrigo Duterte issued Proclamation 1051 which placed the entire Luzon island group under a State of Calamity due to damages caused by tropical disturbances “Quinta”, “Rolly” and “Ulysses”.   It was signed on November 18, 2020 and shall be effective for a period of 60 days, unless revoked by the President.   “Under Republic Act No. 7581 otherwise known as Price Act, a price freeze is automatically imposed on the price of basic goods when there is a declaration of a state of calamity, emergency or similar situation in an area of the country,” DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles said.   Basic goods include  rice; corn; root crops; bread; fresh, dried or canned fish and other marine products; fresh pork, beef a...

Mabalacat artists put lively colors to MCC

If only those walls in Mabalacat City College could talk, it might express its gratitude to the local artists of Mabalacat City after the mural makeover.  The famous Kapampangan group of artists called Sining Mabalacat has again displayed their spectacular talents, this time at the used-to-be empty vertical partitions of the MCC.  Sining Mabalacat's Dodjie Aguinaldo, Rommel Siron, Daniel Manalo, Rodolfo Siron, Jonathan dela Cruz, and Ninoy Anthony Canlas showcased their natural endowment to provide color and visual life to the vacant hallway and rooms while the world is under pandemic.  MCC President Michelle Aguilar-Ong wanted a different ambiance with a welcoming appeal for enrollees once students are allowed to go back physically inside the learning institution.  The local artists immediately got the idea as they started doing creative murals with appropriate themes according to the nature of of a particular field. Isinulat ni Krissa Layn Ronquillo Mahigpit nang ipinagbabawal sa bayan ng Lubao ang paggamit ng videoke, karaoke, at ibang mga kagamitang lumilikha ng ingay na maaaring makaabala sa komunidad mula Lunes hanggang Sabado.   Sa ipinasang Ordinance No. 13-2020 ng Sangguniang Bayan ng Lubao, maaari lamang gumamit ng mga nasabing kagamitan tuwing araw ng Linggo, mula 10:00 ng umaga hanggang 8:00 ng gabi.  Samantala, inatasan ni Mayor Esmeralda G. Ibinigay ni Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. ang 3,200 android tablet sa City College of Angeles (CCA) bilang tulong sa pag-aaral ng mga iskolar sa gitna ng pandemya.  Gagamitin ang mga tablet sa online classes ng mga bata at ibabalik sa pagtatapos ng Academic School Year 2020-2021.  Tinanggap ni CCA President Richard Daenos ang mga tablet noong November 3 sa City Library. San Fernando, Pampanga lights up Christmas decors

A few days before Christmas, the City of San Fernando has lit up its lanterns in several key areas, promoting a “ray of hope” and honoring Fernandino COVID-19 frontliners.  The launching of the lantern displays was held on November 16, 2020 at the City’s Command and Control Center in Barangay San Isidro and was personally witnessed by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and former Philippine president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo who served as the event’s main guest.  For this year, the lantern displays initially lit up were at Heroes Hall in San Juan; City Hall and Poblacion Area; and, Civic Center in San Isidro.  Engr.
